Lightning Expanded My Cape
Concord, MA
A lightening strike resulting in severe damage got the owner of this modified Cape thinking about proceeding with addition and renovation projects he had been contemplating. He wanted more reasonable room sizes and ceiling heights than afforded by typical Capes, plus a new kitchen, master bedroom suite and garage. The roof was literally raised and the second floor walls pushed out to the edges, all while preserving an elaborate tiled shower that had been completed days before the lightening and was undamaged! The addition also includes a farmer's porch, mudroom and additional staircase to the second floor all centrally located to the new kitchen.
